Hands and shoulders

We often give a pattern to the children and they repeat our movements and signs. For example, a very small child knows that giving goodbye with waving his hand is polite to do. When the kids are playing around the road and see the cars driving by, they wave their hands or show the thumbs up in order to ask the drivers to give a signal. Growing up, we learn that shaking hands is a good way to greet each other or make an agreement in business. Famous people used to greet each other or other people with waving and smiling. At school the children who want to answer the lesson, raise their hands to show their desire. Voting is done in the same way. Adults also raise their arm to attract attention of a waiter or a taxi driver. In Britain, people used to stop the bus raising their hands as well. If you fix your fist, it means that you are angry. And if you are waving both hands of yours crossing them, you do not wish to accept something and nobody could make you doing something. Holding your hands on your hips is not a good sign too, because it means that you are too stubborn right now or pretend to be dominative. Clapping your hands is a good sign to show your delight after the good play or ballet.
The most common gesture connected with shoulders is shrugging your shoulders. As you know it means that you just do not know what to do and how to act in the future. Or you are too boring with the situation and you do not care what will be the next. This movement is accompanied with sad eyes expression and firmly pressed lips together.
